A year ago today

I scored. Big time.

Happy 1 year anniversary to my love! I still feel like the luckiest and can't wait to live the rest of my life with you. xo.

*And here's a few more wedding pics, if you'd like to see. :)

SFAI Graduation

With graduation a week behind us, it's now just sinking in that I'm forever done with school.

My college graduation was very traditional, but the one at the San Francisco Art Institute was pretty unparalleled in my experience. Only 1 student wore a cap and gown (he was also covered in glitter), and the ceremony took place on our rooftop campus under a giant white tent. It was freezing but gorgeous.

And I was so lucky to have my grandparents come from Arizona! Aren't they the cutest?

An MFA is a terminal degree for practicing artists, so it feels pretty surreal to realize I can be a professor now. Hopefully I'll be able to pursue that after our year in India.

Have any of you gals finished all your schooling? Did it seem like a relief or an unwelcome dose of reality?

A new painting for your Wednesday

Just finished this painting in the nick of time for our MFA show.

Hope of Deliverance, Oil on Panel, 30"x40", 2011

It was purchased by one of the owners of Gallery Hijinks (so exciting!), and there's been some serious talk of a post-India show come summer 2012. Any and all crossed fingers are greatly appreciated. :) xo.

Flower Girl

With wedding season in full swing (and our 1 year anniversary days away!), I can't stop swooning over flowers.

Always on the lookout for new favorite florists, I just came across the fabulous NYC based Flower Girl. Have any of you Manhatanites visited their gorgeous shop?

Owner Denise Porcaro started as a production designer, and then slowly transitioned her creative outlet into flower design. I love that they incorporate the changing seasons in their arrangements and focus on market-fresh selections.

The best part of all? Flower Girl is connected to a network of boutique florists across the USA  and internationally, so you can contact them for deliveries pretty much anywhere--maybe even India! xo.

Ciao Bella

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RulAdNWGwz0/Tc2GCffiTII/AAAAAAAAcrE/X1E5y68oiLU/s1600/golden-gate-bridge-opening-day.jpg

I can hardly believe there's only 4 more days for me in the "cool, gray city of love". My two years in San Francisco have been filled to the brim with milestones (engagement, marriage, grad school, whew!). But they've also been filled with 45 degree foggy mornings, little sunshine, and about a gazillion parking tickets.

Despite all the monumental life changes and nostalgia I will forever correlate with San Francisco, I can safely say I've never been more excited to pack my bags and book it on out! Serpentine and Tartine will certainly be missed, but food aside this girl is ready for some hot Indian sun.

Posting will continue to be a bit spotty over the next few weeks, but I promise lots of excitement once I get to Chennai.

And in case you or someone you know is looking for some furniture, we're having an open house this Sunday from 3-6 pm. Send me an email if you're interested in stopping by for a look.

Happy weekend friends!

Grow old with me

Just saw this amazing wedding invitation and had to share.

The invite was created by the ever-so-talented groom, Dom. The concept was to illustrate the idea of 'growing old together.' Face shots were taken of the bride and groom which Dom then used as a basis to create a chronological representation of their aging faces into the future. According to the couple, "Many a laugh was had by those invited to the big day."

Vernisage

It's official friends. I have an MFA!

Our final thesis show last night was a wild success. I sold a few paintings and was approached by 2 galleries that wanted to represent me (what?!). Unfortunately, they said they'd have to wait until I got back from India, but just the offer alone felt totally surreal.

For those of you who made it out, thank you so much. Seeing all your beautiful faces made the night even more precious. And for those of you who couldn't get in because the line wrapped around the building (yikes!), the show is up for 1 more week.

Here's a before and after shot of the venue to give you an idea of what Ken and I have been up to the past week:

Before (that's me in the corner sanding/spackling looking like I'm in time-out):

And after (look at them smooth walls!):

I finished two new paintings in the nick of time for the show, but I haven't taken decent photos yet so you'll have to wait 'til next week to see. In the meantime, head on over to Treasure Island and catch a glimpse in person. :)

Here's to graduations and new beginnings!

India, here. I. come.

Busy Bee

Ken and I have been working all day spackling, sanding, and painting my wall space for our big final MFA show this Friday.

The San Francisco Art Institute has rented out an amazing alternative venue for our big exhibition (an old winery!), so we're working furiously to transform it into a gallery, of sorts.

To give you an idea of what to expect, here's a peek at the 2009 show:

Hope to see you all there!

Where? The Winery, 200 California St., Treasure Island
When? Friday May 13, 6-8 pm
Why? Because who doesn't love young talent!

Yay for moms!

The happiest of Mother's Days to all you moms out there! I'm a pretty big believer that the world goes round because of you ladies--so here's a big thank you for all the hard work you do.

And some extra love to my mom (and her mom!) for doing such a darn good job. :)

Can't wait to hug you both next weekend. xo.

Have a love filled weekend!

What are your weekend plans dear readers? Mine are pretty much the best I've had all semester. After 4 months apart, I finally get to see my hub!

Heading to the airport in a few hours to pick him up. I love this part. :) xo.

The oldest couple to ever marry

Meet Forrest and Rose, the oldest couple to ever get married. :)

"When Forrest Lunsway asked his sweetheart Rose Pollard to marry him thirty years ago, she agreed with one condition: that they wed when he turned 100 years old. On the eve of Forrest's birthday, Rose made good on her promise — and at 100 and 90 years old respectively, are now the world's oldest pair of newlyweds. [source]"

Isn't that just the sweetest thing you've ever heard!?

Ps...A massive thanks goes out to Samantha for the beautiful feature on her blog today.

Happy Birthday Ken!

26 years ago today, my favorite person was born. Happiest of birthdays to my love!!

Ken comes back to San Fran from India this Friday (YAY!), so we'll be celebrating officially a few days late. And then I plan on making a blueberry pancake cake. :)

2 more weeks!

With my final thesis show and graduation 10 days away I've been feeling a lot like this lately:

Hah! His tongue is my favorite part. Missing reading all your blogs and hoping to catch up later this week. Thank you for all your sweet notes and words of encouragement. Almost there friends! xoxo.
