Royal Wedding Fever

Did any of you wake up to watch the royal wedding? (I waited til noon and counted on reruns :)

Kate looked perfect, and Prince William's love for her was so apparent throughout the whole day. But despite all the grandeur and royal perks, it felt so voyeuristic to see their entire wedding broadcast throughout the world.

I know I'm probably the only one that thinks this, but I feel so much sadness when I see the scrutiny their lives will forever attract. I just pray their marriage endures under so much speculation and attention, and that the media doesn't harass Kate in the same way they did Diana.

Blessings to them and theirs. I wish them all the happily-ever-after there is and more.

Up, up, and away

It's no secret Jose Villa is my man of choice when it comes to wedding photography. But I think he's outdone himself this time, friends. My heart skipped a beat when I saw this shoot.

It reminds me of the time Ken surprised me with a hot air balloon ride. :) Only their photos turned out waay better.

I feel like Dorothy.

Have you guys heard about the tornado that hit St. Louis' airport last night? I was actually in the air about to land when it happened. We could see lighting through the plane windows--but had no idea we were just a few miles above a tornado.

Our plane was diverted to Kansas City where I had to spend the night. Since the STL airport is closed indefinitely, I had no choice but to catch the first flight back to San Francisco. So sad!

Fortunately my brother and friends are safe and sound, but this has simply not been my week friends. Here's to brighter days.

*A big thank you to everyone who wrote asking about our safety. You folks are just too sweet.

Have a beautiful weekend!

Whew what a week! With my final MFA show coming up in less than 3 weeks I've been swamped with late nights in the studio and working out the logistics of hanging an art show with 82 other graduating students. I hope your weeks were a little less hectic.

I'm heading to St. Louis today to visit my brother this weekend (rough timing), but I'm seriously looking forward to seeing him and some other great friends from college. See you all on Monday!

ps. A huge thanks to the beautiful Laily and Rosaline for the feature on {thisisglamorous}.

Oscar's Studio

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! A BIG thank you to all the folks who came out for our Open Studios Event. It was a great success with over 300 people attending.

In honor of open studios, I thought a look into Oscar de la Renta's would be fun. :)

Welcome to the Manhattan studio of Mr. Oscar de la Renta:

I need to learn how to sew.

Old Photos

I've been going through my dad's old family photos for an exciting project I'm working on (will tell you all about it next week), and came across a few of him in Paris as a little boy.

He's the one in the red/white striped shirt (so French!) and the other two are his older brothers.

Our kids are going to be so spoiled and used to seeing images of us as children because of digital photography/Facebook. But it's so rare that we get to see our parents at this age.

Happy Friday friends! Hope to see some of you at Open Studios tomorrow. :) xo.
