Copenhagen & Berlin

Welcome December! I've been waiting for you all year long. Not only because the holidays are filled with lights and love and presents and sugar, but because I'll be going on some pretty spectacular trips over the next 6 weeks, beginning with Copenhagen on Sunday. Hello western civilization and deodorant--how I've missed you.

After hanging out in 120 degree Indian heat for the past 7 months, I'm not sure my body is ready for Northern Europe in the winter, so I anticipate looking a lot like this little dude.

My younger brother is studying architecture in Copenhagen, and together we'll be traveling through Denmark and taking a weekend trip to Berlin. I've never been to either city and would LOVE love love to hear any and all recommendations you have about what to do-see-eat-not eat-etc. Especially anything art/design related. Thank you!

  12. Yeay. This sounds so awesome. I've never been to Denmark but I hear it's beautiful, clean and the people are awesome. If you aren't sick of curry, try the curry wurst in Germany. It's really yummy.

  13. Oooooh, very exciting! I hope you stock up on some yummy smelling deodorant. Personally, I prefer classic Old Spice (yep, I steal Tiho's). It's the best!

  15. Hilarious pic of the baby - you will need to layer up big time. Copenhagen is one of my favourite cities - I would def recommend the David Collection, plus the Design Museum. There are so many great places there - I posted some others here:

  17. I also recommend the Design Museum :-) But if you are traveling through Aarhus, then Aros muserum is a must see! Olafur Eliasson has a wonderful exhibition there, the Rainbow Panorama. I also have lots of restaurant tips as well as where you can find the cutest little cupcake bakeries if you are interested. :-)

  19. Hello!
I absolutely love both cities... however, they are both so large, that I am sure that I have barely scratched the surface of either one!

Since you are all about the art side of things, you should check out the Hotel Fox... each room in painted by a different artist and it would be well worth it to stay there for a night if you can (http://www.hotelfox.dk/). The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art has various exhibits that you may enjoy! (http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/see-and-do/louisiana-museum-of-modern-art/382) Also, Nyhavn has all kinds of stuff to do and the colorful façades on all of the buildings along the canals are nothing short of breathtaking... great photo spot!

As far as Berlin goes... where do I start? The sights that I see every single time that I go include: The Berliner Dome, Brandenburg Gate, The Berlin Holocaust Memorial (comprised of large cement blocks, of various heights, stretching towards the sky that you can walk through), The Gedächtniskirche or Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, Reichstag (phenomenal building.... head to the roof to see much of Berlin), The Eastside Gallery is also pretty nifty (http://www.berlin.de/orte/sehenswuerdigkeiten/east-side-gallery/index.en.php)...

I hope that these are great places to start. However, I can highly recommend going where the wind takes you and following the locals for food. This is how I have always travelled Europe and it has yet to go wrong for me!

All the best and very happy travels to you two :)
