Royal Wedding Fever

Did any of you wake up to watch the royal wedding? (I waited til noon and counted on reruns :)

Kate looked perfect, and Prince William's love for her was so apparent throughout the whole day. But despite all the grandeur and royal perks, it felt so voyeuristic to see their entire wedding broadcast throughout the world.

I know I'm probably the only one that thinks this, but I feel so much sadness when I see the scrutiny their lives will forever attract. I just pray their marriage endures under so much speculation and attention, and that the media doesn't harass Kate in the same way they did Diana.

Blessings to them and theirs. I wish them all the happily-ever-after there is and more.

  1. I didn't have to wake up early since it was on at 7:30 pm here, perfect timing! But i do know what you mean, i wouldn't want to live my life like that even if it is a "fairytale."

  3. yep, I feel the same way. I didn't watch, but I saw beautiful snippets on the news. He's really dear with her, but I hope that their private lives do stay private. Because I think they're so genuine, I hope they can protect their relationship from the scrutiny that Diana dealt with.

  5. The wedding was on here in Sydney in the evening - not that I watched it though,it really isn't my scene. I just had a quick squiz at the dress! She did look beautiful.

I think that they have to accept that they will lead public lives. It's sad that they will be constantly scrutinised but maybe if people stopped feeding the media machine by buying in to all the tabloid stories, they could lead a life more private. I definitely hope though that they will not be as hounded as poor Diana was - nobody deserves that.

Happy weekend and keep painting! Stephie x

  6. I taped it and watched with my neighbor who is from Yorkshire. She cried through the whole thing. I teared up, Kate was so beautiful. I wish them a world of happiness and although I too feel sad they're in the public eye, I'm excited for their babies ;)

  7. I have a lot of hope for Will and Kate. They seem to genuinely enjoy each other. My mom mentioned that, during the wedding events, you could see them talking to each other. I think they're going to provide each other with a lot of support and I wish them the very best.

That said, I also love Kate's dress!

  8. It was so fun to watch - even if it was voyeuristic. It was a much needed happy outlet :)

  9. I had the same thought about their lives. But since they've been together for so long perhaps they have a better chance at success

  10. I am still quite obsessed...
Woke up at the crack of dawn to watch it live but it was worth the lost sleep. I enjoyed letting myself get totally caught up in it - there is so much horrible news & it was fun be overloaded with the fantasy and happy, exciting events. I thought the ceremony message was a fantastic bit and a wonderful reminder for married couples, would love to find a script of it to re-read on rough days ;) I hope the media isn't a pain for them in the coming years, but they've seemed to handle it well so far. Seems like they have a great foundation and lots of support!

  11. I whole heartedly agree-it was a little tough to watch. I was truly floored at how self-possessed Kate seemed on what would be a big day for any woman, much less one marrying a prince. Here's hoping that they have a wonderful, happy, peaceful life together!
