Have you guys seen this amazing dinner party? San Francisco native, Jordan Ferney, hosted this beautiful event on what looks like Baker Beach, just a stone's throw away from the Golden Gate.
The pictures are totally magical.
If you're interested in reading their dinner menu or how they managed the lighting for such an event, check out the rest of her story here.

Here are a few recent paintings from the studio. Let me know if there are any barren walls out there. :)

Have a cozy weekend.
I haven't really been one for the standard-Friday-weekly-roundup of cool/fun stuff around the web--mainly because I like to give everything its own spotlight post. But there was just too much great stuff this week...so here goes... :)
Why white + gold belong together.
LOVE these posters.
Raspberry-Rose Souffles? Yes, please.
Baking solves all problems.
Raindrops on the ocean.
Wee Wedding Cakes! (yum)
Flowers that will make you want to get married immediately.
Why my heart skips a beat for Milan.
Interior inspiration: coral painted floors!
And finally, the prettiest wedding bands in all the land.

Frozen
Isn't this photograph of handmade popsicles so yummy? The colors are amazing! And it would make such a great painting.

Paintings Featured: Wit + Delight
Today marks the most exciting day of my blogging life.
Kate Arends--the Kate Arends--emailed me and asked to do a feature on my paintings for her ever-so-popular blog, Wit + Delight.
After running around the house and calling Ken like 5 times, I calmed down and had the good sense to write her back.
Check out the incredible feature she just posted here.
Oh, and she's also buying a painting. :)

Pie, again.
Given my recent obsession with pie, I chose to do my latest Photoshop assignment on it.
Our project was to use "type as metaphor" in exploring the meaning of one word--namely, pie.
Design 1. A panel composed of sentences & phrases:
Design 2. A panel composed of individual words:
Design 3. A panel composed of individual letters:
At this point I think I can safely say, I've got pie officially out of my system. :)

Letterpress Business Cards
The Mandate Press is incredible. They offer 250 letterpressed business cards for just $95. Anyone that's ever gotten anything letterpressed or printed business cards, knows this is outlandishly inexpensive.
They have all these great templates to choose from like... "The Artist"
"The Aristocrat"
And my personal favorite, "The Secret Agent"
Or you can submit your own design and they'll custom print it for the same price.
I'm currently one click away from sending in my design and feeling impossibly classy about the next time someone asks me for a biz card. :)

Killing Us Softly
This video is a brilliant articulation of why the flawless portrayal of women in media is actually a "public health problem."
It will blow you away.

Summer in San Francisco
San Francisco,
I've gotta bone to pick with you.
Summer is ending in less than a week, and I have yet to see the sun.
Get it together.

Crude Awakening
I know it's been a few months since we capped the spill in the Gulf, but the disaster still weighs heavy on my mind.
These photographs by Jane Fulton are poignant reminders of the larger problems we still have yet to face as we continue to exploit the earth's resources. Her work reminds us of our responsibility to lead lives that demand sustainable energy and protect the balance of life.
I know these photos are a bit heavier than most here on a l k e e m i--but the images seemed too important not to share.

Magnolias & Peonies
I'm loving these flower photos by Kari Herer, especially the peonies.
Whoever thought to combine graphite drawings with fresh flowers? Lovely idea.

The battle of the bangs
Alright ladies. Let's have a vote.
I've been wanting little bangs for some time now, but Ken is totally against them. I'm no Audrey, but I still think I could pull em off...maybe?
Thoughts?

Treehouse Honeymoon
My jaw dropped when I saw this tree house getaway!
Located in Issaquah, Washington, Tree House Point is perfect for honeymooning and can even be rented as an intimate wedding venue.
What a unique spot! Wouldn't you love to go?
Many thanks to Jasmine for sharing her photos. :)

Pie Pops!
And here I thought pie couldn't get any better. Brace yourselves, friends. I think this may be the start of a revolution.
Step 1. Get excited.
Step 2. Cut teeny dough circles.
Step 3. Fill teeny circles with jam or fresh fruit.
Step 4. Place lollipop stick in middle of teeny circle covered in delicious.
Step 5. Cover with teeny circle number 2 and crimp with lollipop stick.
Step 6. Bake.
Step 7. Eat.
The best thing since sliced bread, for sure. :)
For the complete how-to-guide, check out Luxirare's post here.
